Excursion Limiter

A Series amplifiers provide massive real-world continuous power output, ultra-low noise and distortion, and powerful built-in processing to match your Induction Dynamics subwoofers. Both the A2 and A3 utilize patented technology to reduce distortion and protect your subwoofers from damage.

Induction Dynamics amplifiers protect your subwoofers and eliminate distortion by utilizing a patented frequency-selective excursion limiter. For improved low end extension and increased sound pressure levels, the ID1 Series is also built to take full advantage of the A Series patented limiters and filters. The ID1’s bi-amp terminals and a unique 3/4-way switch allow both passive and active amplification of the ID1’s powerful dual subwoofers.

 

Resonance PeakInduction Dynamics subwoofer and amplifier combinations are famous for their outstanding transparency – that is, you can’t tell where the bass is coming from.

Part of this transparency is due to a special subwoofer filter circuit that removes resonance peaks and produces smooth, even bass well past the threshold of human hearing. Leave the BOOM behind and immerse yourself in the clean, accurate bass you were meant to hear.

This limiter allows the subwoofer to safely produce even the lowest
sub-bass frequencies without risk of moving outside its linear operating
range.

This limiter operates around a selected frequency of maximum excursion in a subwoofer, and does not affect other frequencies. The limiter responds faster than the rise time of a subwoofer driver, so there is effectively no delay. Amplitude is reduced smoothly, so the operation of limiter does not create audible distortion.
